La zona estuarina y de las marismas de A Xunqueira do Areal representa una zona de gran interés ecológico ya que es confluencia de tres sistemas ambientales diferentes playa-duna, marisma y medio marino. Por ella asciende el flujo mareal y diferentes especies de peces e invertebrados.

Amphibians suffer a global decline. This has made them the most threatened group of vertebrates on the planet, with more than a third of the species under some degree of threat.

The former industrial area “Luciline” in Rouen, along the Seine river, has been profoundly re-designed into an ecodistrict covering 9 hectares in total and including both climate change adaptation and mitigation solutions. Sustainable living is the core principle of the neighbourhood re-design.
